Être complice de l’autorité

La soumission et l’oppression
Sont les piliers des religions
Haine de la science, de la raison
Si c’est ça qu’on me propose
Être croyant, fier et buté

Moi, je choisis d’être athée

When I’m told that working
Will bring me freedom
And hope
For a better life, a dream life,
That a last I’ll be able to consume
I laugh.

Enslavement as only option,
Rules imposed by those in control
Ring as fate.
If this is what I’m offered,
To be an enslaved employee,
There’s only one life and conflicting choices.
Pleasure is in leisure.

And so I carry on,
Without the slightest glimpse of regret,
Drunk with life.
Who other than me could claim this?

If I am told that going to vote
Will enable me to express myself,
To have
The right to be governed,
To obey without turning a hair,
I laugh.

For whatever the result of the polls,
The cops, the warders are all the same,
It isn’t the rich who are bothered.
If that’s what they’re offering,
To be accomplice of authority,
There’s only one life, conflicting choices.
I will not partake.

And so I carry on,
Without the slightest notion of regret.
So, drunk with life
Who other than me could claim this?

If I am told to worship a god or a book,
To have to believe
That something beyond, awaits me open armed,
Better than life here below,
I laugh.

Submission and oppression
Are the pillars of religion,
Hatred of science, of reason.
If that’s what they’re offering,
To be a believer, proud and stubborn,
I chose to be an atheist.
